Why did this happen

This happened because people needed the land for farming and living. They also use the trees for trading to make more money. People also moved into the forest to survive the droughts.

When did this start

This started a long long time ago, and is still going on now. However pepole are trying to stop it or help it by planting new trees.

Where it is happening

This is happening mainly in the forest of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This big forest in Central Africa is getting smaller because of how many people are cutting it down for human reasons. Like farming, land for homes, helping drought, and the wood for making houses.

Who deforestation is effecting

Deforestation is effecting many people because of how much of the soil is getting very poor. So many people are cutting down even more because they need more land.
